Downloads

Save chapters to your device so you can read offline.

Downloading from a novel

Open any novel → tap the download icon in the toolbar. Pick one of:

  • Download All: every chapter
  • Download Unread: only chapters you haven’t read
  • Select chapters: pick specific chapters in the chapter list
Selecting individual chapters and starting a bulk download.

Downloads run in the background. A progress shelf appears above the tab bar showing the current novel, a progress ring, and chapters remaining.

Managing in-progress downloads

Tap the progress shelf to expand it. You can:

  • See per-chapter progress
  • Cancel an individual chapter or the whole queue
  • Re-queue a failed chapter

If you force-quit the app during a download, the queue resumes on next launch.

Downloaded storage

See what’s taking space in Settings → Data & Cache → Downloaded Chapters:

  • Per-novel breakdown of downloaded chapter count and disk usage
  • Tap a novel to delete its downloaded chapters individually
  • Clear all downloads removes everything (with confirmation)

Cached covers and the SwiftData library are listed separately so you can free up space without losing your library.

Reading offline

A downloaded chapter loads instantly with no network request. If you start a chapter you haven’t downloaded while offline, you’ll see “No internet connection”, download it ahead of time to avoid this.

The Library, History, and your novel detail views all work offline. Browse and Search require a connection because they call the source’s website.

Coming soon

  • Auto-download new chapters: when a library novel has new chapters, download them automatically
  • Wi-Fi-only mode: only download on Wi-Fi, never on cellular
  • Storage caps: set a maximum total size; oldest chapters auto-clean

For now, downloading is fully manual and counts against the same data plan as browsing.
